Hylton Crew Team Away Trip to Princeton, April 18-19, 2008

Regatta Web Site: www.rowpnra.org/mercersuper.html

Meet at the Hylton parking lot at 12:30 p.m. on Fri., April 18

(right at the end of 4th/5th period – near the band doors)

Be sure to eat lunch, as we will not have a lengthy meal stop on the trip!  You may bring a healthy snack/water on the bus.  Take your practice gear on the bus with you, just in case we have a chance to get on the water after we rig boats upon arrival.

Bring/Wear:

¨      Practice gear in a separate bag ON THE BUS (not packed beneath)

¨      Regular regatta comfort stuff, gear, uniforms (uni & cool max!)

¨      All personal items needed for an overnight stay & 4-5 hour bus rides

¨      Spending money as desired (all meals provided)

¨      Weather-related items appropriate for the forecast (sunscreen, jackets/layers, rain gear, hats, etc…)

Cost:  $100 per rower (due by 4/5)

Please make every effort to turn it in at the boathouse to Mrs. Lazor or Mrs. Fichten during regular weekly practices.  Do NOT give trip payments to coaches!  Your fee covers transportation, hotel, registration, incidental expenses and all meals.

Return time on Saturday is unknown at this time, as the schedule has not yet been published, but will be late evening.

Family Member Attendance:

Parents who wish to reserve rooms with the team MUST contact Dorothy Lazor (703-441-1648 or drlazor@comcast.net) by April 3.  Room cost is $100.

We are staying at the Holiday Inn, Princeton, 100 Independence Ave, Princeton, NJ 08540, which is within 10 miles of the regatta site.

We may have room on the bus for family members other than chaperones on a first come, first served basis.  Cost is $50.00 per seat.

If you plan to attend this event but not stay with the team, please let us know so we can coordinate lodging/food/chaperoning/support logistics.

Directions to the Regatta Site:

The directions listed on the regatta web site are somewhat confusing.  Below are the directions we’ve used in the past.  If you do decide to follow the directions on the web site, you need to use the ones to Mercer County Park, not to the boathouse area.

If you mapquest the directions to the park or hotel, they’ll take you from I-295N to the NJ turnpike, then to Exit 4, Rte 73 toward Camden/Philly, and back onto I-295N to Exit 67.  Your choice.

Head straight up I-95 toward Philadelphia.  Take the Delaware Memorial Bridge to I-295 N.  Take Exit 67, US Highway 1 North, to Quaker Bridge Road, Rte 533 (overpass at Quaker Bridge Mall).  Go right (south) on Quaker Bridge Road for 2 miles to Hughes Drive (after 3rd traffic light), then left onto Hughes (Van Nest Wildlife Refuge near left corner).  Follow Hughes to the Mercer County Park entrance on the left.  At that point, you’ve got to follow any regatta signs/parking directions.

Parking and Park Rules:

We have no specific info on parking at this time.  Be prepared to pay, just in case.

Directions to the Hotel:

If you mapquest the directions to the park or hotel, they’ll take you from I-295N to the NJ turnpike, then to Exit 4, Rte 73 toward Camden/Philly, and back onto I-295N to Exit 67.  Your choice.

Head straight up I-95 toward Philadelphia.  Take the Delaware Memorial Bridge to I-295 N.  Take Exit 67, US Highway 1 North, and go 7.9 miles to Independence Way and the hotel.
